Give the Gift of Reading
Help us purchase Kobos for the students at the W. Ross MacDonald School for the Blind!
MLIS Student Council (MLISSC) and the FIMS Graduate Library are collaborating to raise money to purchase 10 Kobo e-readers for the W. Ross MacDonald School for the blind, low vision, and deafblind students of Ontario.
Why are we raising money?
While the W. Ross MacDonald School does have its own library, it can’t rely on print books alone for a number of reasons. Namely, few children and teen books are available in large print, and braille books are extremely expensive and take up limited space—and, contrary to popular belief, not everyone reads braille! That is why Kobo e-readers are a great solution.
Why Kobos?
Kobo e-readers are fantastic devices that offer accessibility, flexibility, and ease of access. Students can use Kobo e-readers to:
-
Upload and access copies of books provided by CELA or NELS,
-
Read e-books in any size font that they would like,
-
Listen to audiobooks,
-
And more!
How you can help
You can help get books into the hands of blind, low vision, and deafblind students by donating to our fundraiser today! Any amount helps, and all money will help us buy Kobos for the students at the W. Ross MacDonald School in Brantford.
